The Story of Cadbury World
The world may know the decadent taste of Cadbury chocolate.
But what about the story of Cadbury – your favourite confectionery?
Cadbury World is a top visitor attraction in the United Kingdom and a valued addition to the Cadbury business. It welcomes over half a million guests yearly.
Often confused for a theme park or a Cadbury factory tour, Cadbury World is a self-guided exhibition tour that uncovers the story of the cocoa bean, chocolate, and the Cadbury business.
Cadbury World opened its doors on 14 August 1990 on Cadbury’s Bournville manufacturing site in Birmingham city.
The Cadbury brand was founded by John Cadbury, based on his Quaker (a non-conformist group) beliefs. He later introduced his sons, Richard and George Cadbury, who founded the Bournville Village.
Owned by Merlin Entertainments, Cadbury is now part of Mondelez International, the second biggest confectionery manufacturer in the world.
Mondelez International has invested in the Bournville village, the original Cadbury factory, to continue the rich heritage the site offers.
Fun fact: As a result of the success of Cadbury World Birmingham, a second location opened in Dunedin, New Zealand, in 2003.
